Prof. dr Robert Adlington
Robert Adlington is Professor of Music at the University of Huddersfield. He studied at the University of Oxford and the University of Sussex, and previously held lecturing posts at the University of Sussex and the University of Nottingham. He is the author of books on Harrison Birtwistle, Louis Andriessen and avant-garde music in Amsterdam in the 1960s, and editor of volumes on music and communism, new music theatre, and music and democracy. He has published articles and book chapters on Luigi Nono, Luciano Berio, Elliott Carter, musical modernism and a range of other topics in music since 1960. He is working on a fourth monograph, titled Musical Models of Democracy. He has held editorial positions at the journals Music Analysis and Twentieth-Century Music and is a member of the Editorial Board for the cross-European Routledge book series ‘Musical Cultures of the Twentieth Century’.
