De Verboden Passie 15/17/18 November

Maximilian Steinberg (Vilnius, 1883) was the musical promise of his time: protégé of

Rimsky-Korsakov, rival to Stravinsky and eventual teacher to Shostakovich. On

November 15, 1923, he completed a masterful choral piece that he knew could not be

performed because of the prohibition on religious music. One hundred years later,

the time has finally come: Musica Choralis organizes the Dutch premiere of Steinberg's Passion Week, led by conductor Leenke de Lege.
