Call for Papers
Franz Liszt: 1811-2011
April 1-3, 2011,
Utrecht University, The Netherlands
On the occasion of the 375th anniversary of Utrecht University, the bicentenary of the birth of Franz Liszt, and the 25th anniversary of The International Franz Liszt Competition and Festival, and in close collaboration with the Dutch Franz Liszt Kring, we are inviting papers for submission based on new research on Franz Liszt, especially those that address the following themes: Liszt and the Keyboard, Liszt and the Phenomenon of the Piano Competition, Liszt and his Pupils, Liszt Reception, Liszt Mediatized, Collecting Lisztiana.
We are looking for 20-minute papers from scholars engaged in the fields of musicology, music theory, media studies, etc. The conference languages will be English and German.
Invited keynote speakers will include Alan Walker, Serge Gut and Michael Saffle.
The program committee includes Michael Saffle (Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, USA), James Deaville (Carleton University, Ottawa, Canada), Zsuzsanna Domokos (Liszt Ferenc Memorial Museum and Research Center, Budapest, Hungary), Peter Scholzs (Franz Liszt Kring, The Netherlands).
Abstracts of no more than 300 words should be submitted by November 1, 2010, to Emile Wennekes, containing:
-author(s) name(s), academic affiliation(s), e-mail address(es), title of the abstract, the abstract, technical requirements (piano, overhead projector, power point, etc).
Publication of the contributions in book form is under consideration.
